Statement of Significance:
Probably best example of 1930s modern architecture in central Sydney.
Description:
Steel frame stone clad twelve storey building with continuous vertical
bands of zigzag metal framed bay windows. Corner tower takes the spiked
motif to the skyline. Contrasting stone cladding on the two lowest
floors. Black marble entrance porch supporting bronze sculptures.
Interior has important two storey business chamber decorated with fine
original fittings in bronze and terrazzo. Well planned, wide corridors.
One of the first air conditioned city buildings.

Excellent condition.
