Gothic Revival /neo-Gothic/neo-Tudor/neo-Byzantine.

In its purest form Gothic Revival refers to the literary and aesthetic movement of the 1830s and 1840s, coincidental with than in England. Interest in the presumed "goodness" of long-gone medieval times suggested that the emulation of its Gothic architecture would instill a similar goodness among the present wicked. The posture gained enough adherents to inspire a re-revival around 1900 and later, particularly for colleges, urban high schools, and major churches, in styles labeled neo-Gothic and neo-Tudor with all its Scarsdale suburban-style stockbroker "half-timbering".
