These ultra-luxury apartment buildings were
highly contentious at the time, as people were amazed by the great view
and urban space that was created by the demolition of the office
buildings that previously occupied the site. Talking about the harbour
became briefly fashionnable, and there were even many serious calls to
knock down the Cahill Expressway, thus opening the Quay fully. Thank
goodness the cognoscenti have found something else to talk about (you
know who you are.....!). The harbour-side of the development, whilst enveloping a public street, has provided a very nice colonade with bars, restaurants, a cinema, etc. |
