| Majestic views of the harbour across a landscaped foreshore
park are a reminder of the days when Lindesay was the only residence on
Darling Point. Built in 1834 by Colonial Treasurer Cambell Drummond Riddell,
the property was the first colonial house built in the Gothic Style.
Lindesay may be hired for special functions and is available for inspection
(by arrangement). Built in 1834 on Sydney's Darling Point by the new Colonial Treasurer, Campbell Drummond Riddell, Lindesay was the first property to grace Darling Point. Its high position made it visible for miles around and allowed it to command a sweeping view of the Harbour. Owned by the National Trust since 1963, the house contains a fine collection of English and Colonial furniture. Its gardens and gracious interiors offer a special opportunity to step back into the lifestyle of the early colonials. Opening Hours: Mon - Fri by appointment Minimum opening fee $150, plus $4.40 per head over 30 students Phone: (02) 9363 2401 (Mon - Fri 9.30am to 1.30pm) |
